1. Acceptance of Terms & Dual-Coding Services

By accessing, installing, downloading, or using NeuroRead Pro (“Software”, “Service”, or “Application”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. NeuroRead Pro operates as a cognitive reading workstation utilizing Dual-Coding Theory (Paivio, 1986) to synchronize auditory speech synthesis with visual illumination across PDF and EPUB digital literature.

If you do not agree to these Terms, you must immediately discontinue use of the Application and clear all locally cached session databases.

2. Desktop Software License & Entitlements

NeuroRead Pro grants you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to utilize the workstation for your personal, academic, or professional reading needs, subject to your active tier entitlement (Free Explorer, Pro Scholar, or Lifetime Patron):

  • Free Tier: Includes browser Web Speech API, up to 3 active books, basic Pomodoro focus timer, and standard PDF Spotlight.
  • Pro Scholar: Unlocks High-Fidelity Neural Audio, unlimited library storage, Bionic saccadic fixation, RSVP Turbo up to 850 WPM, and 4-color Obsidian annotations.
  • Lifetime Patron: Unlocks permanent multi-user profiles, unlimited active recall quizzes, and priority neural synthesis caching.

3. User Content & Local Privacy Guarantee

NeuroRead Pro is strictly built on a Local-First Privacy Architecture:

Your Documents Never Leave Your Device:When you upload PDF or EPUB files, text parsing, coordinate mapping, and cover rendering happen inside your local workstation with complete client-side privacy. Neither your raw files nor your reading annotations are uploaded to central company databases.

You warrant that you hold legitimate copyrights, licenses, or fair use rights to any documents you import into NeuroRead Pro.

4. Neural Audio Synthesis & Fair Use Caching

Auditory immersion is provided through two complementary engines:

  • Web Speech API: Executes 100% on-device utilizing your operating system’s native voice synthesizers (macOS, Windows, iOS, or Android). Zero external network calls are made.
  • Private Neural Audio Engine: High-fidelity multi-speaker neural audio processed on-device or dedicated private instances. Text snippets sent for synthesis are cached in private local tier storage and never retained to train commercial generative models.

5. Subscriptions, Payments & Cancellation

Paid plans are processed securely via certified merchant partners (LemonSqueezy / Stripe). You may cancel recurring subscriptions at any time via your account settings. Subscriptions remain active until the conclusion of the paid billing period, with a standard 14-day refund policy for annual purchases.

6. Acceptable Use Policy

You agree not to reverse engineer the proprietary syllable-weighted audio timestamp engine, attempt unauthorized extraction of encrypted neural voice weights, or distribute malicious binaries masquerading as NeuroRead Pro extensions.

7. Cognitive Science Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability

While Dual-Coding visual-auditory immersion has been validated across extensive cognitive psychology literature, individual reading speed increases, ADHD focus improvements, and retention rates vary based on personal cognitive baseline, text density, and practice frequency.
